Our History

1929

The Beginning | Royal Cleaners

Aunt Olive and Uncle Harvey start Bay Towel as Royal Cleaners in De Pere, Wisconsin.

1946

2nd Generation |
Don Butz

Donald Butz moves to De Pere in 1933 and works for his Aunt & Uncle. In 1946 he becomes a partner in the business.

1965

Expanding | Model Laundry

Donald and Uncle Ken Butz purchase Model Laundry. The laundry runs side by side with Bay Towel.

1970

3rd Generation |  
John Butz

Current owner John Butz joins his father Don and Uncle Ken to grow the business.

1974

New Industry | Uniform Rental

Bay Towel enters the uniform rental industry.

1982

Growth | Milwaukee

Milwaukee service depot is established to grow the southern part of the state.

1986

Growth | Wausau

Wausau service depot is established to grow the central and northern markets of Wisconsin.

1989

Expanding | Warehouse

Bay Towel's primary production facility grows from a 20,000 sq feet warehouse to an 80,000 sq foot warehouse on the west side of Green Bay.

1996

Packers Honor Bay Towel Excellence

The Green Bay Packers recognize Bay Towel for 60 consecutive years of service dating back to 1936.

2010

Accredited Laundry Healthcare

Bay Towel becomes a Healthcare Laundry Accredited Laundry facility.

2014

4th Generation |
Jake Butz

John's son Jake Butz, 4th generation of the family, re-joins Bay Towel.

2014

Expanding | Warehouse

An additional 16,500 square feet are added to the growing production facility.

2020

Celebrating 50 Years |  
John Butz

Owner John Butz, celebrates 50 years working for the family business.

2023

Promotion | Jake Butz

After 9 years at the business, Jake Butz takes over as President & CFO of Bay Towel.
